Idaho business insurance
Commercial auto insurance for Idaho businesses
When vehicles are owned, leased, or used for work, a personal auto policy may not be the right fit. Tell us who drives, what they drive, where the vehicles are kept, and how each one is used on the job.
Start with the driving
Match the policy to who drives what, where, and why
Commercial auto can address liability and physical damage for vehicles listed on a business auto policy. The vehicle, ownership, driver, garaging location, travel radius, and use all affect the quote and coverage.
Business driving to describe
Which vehicles and trips belong in the quote?
- The business owns, leases, or finances cars, vans, pickups, trailers, or heavier vehicles.
- Employees drive between jobs, make deliveries, carry tools, or transport customers.
- The business repairs, stores, sells, test drives, or transports customer vehicles.
- Employees or owners use personal vehicles for business errands.
- The business rents or borrows vehicles for work.
- Vehicles travel beyond the usual local area or cross state lines.
- A contract asks for commercial auto liability or specific limits.
Adding vehicles, drivers, deliveries, or a new contract?
Start with the vehicle types, business use, territory, and deadline. Keep full VINs and driver records for secure follow-up.
Build the schedules
Bring the vehicle, driver, and route details
- A vehicle schedule with year, make, model, vehicle type, ownership, garaging ZIP, and business use. Share complete VINs only through the secure follow-up.
- Driver names and roles. Share license numbers and private records only through the secure follow-up.
- Typical travel radius, states visited, deliveries, towing, and what vehicles carry.
- Current declarations pages, loss history, and contract or certificate requirements if available.
What the auto policy may not solve
The vehicle policy does not protect everything it carries
- Hired auto concerns vehicles the business rents or borrows. Non-owned auto concerns vehicles the business does not own, such as an employee car used for work.
- Physical damage protects listed vehicles subject to the selected coverage and deductible. Liability addresses certain injury or damage claims involving others.
- Tools or goods carried in a vehicle may need inland marine or cargo coverage; vehicle coverage does not automatically insure everything inside.
- Customer vehicles, dealer inventory, garage work, or towing can require coverage beyond an ordinary commercial auto policy.
- A personal auto policy may restrict or exclude some business use. The actual use and policy wording need review.
